The type material consists of armor scutes from an ankylosaur,
originally published by Gilmore as “genus and species indeterminate”.
Lehman (1981) republished the material as a nodosaurid ankylosaur,
but it was not recognized as a distinct species until 2000, nearly
a century after its original discovery.
